SH2030 launched Plastic Free Henfield in late 2019 to make a serious dent in local the use of plastics – especially single-use plastics. We team up with national charity Surfers Against Sewage to run this scheme and will be working to become a fully accredited ‘Plastic Free Community’.
We have had the formal support of Henfield Parish Council, the Henfield Community Partnership and many other organisations and local businesses for this ongoing project.
Our Plastic Free Henfield steering group meets informally and shares out how we will work with community groups, businesses and others to spread the message. We have also had some links with the Keep Britain Tidy campaign to help us with community support for reducing the amount of plastic waste littering our local area.SAS (Surfers Against Sewage) have provided us with handy guides and resources for shops, groups and individuals to help us all reduce our reliance on single use plastics.

The good news is that just before the Covid 19 Lockdown in 2020, we had already submitted some of our local businesses for the award of Plastic Free Champions.
Three of them qualified immediately and a few others are well on the way.
CORNERWEIGHS, POST HOUSE CAFE and RELISH cafe are now officially recognised as Plastic Free Champion businesses. Congratulations to these three local businesses.
